The Otherworld - Walkthru

Overview:

The cavern portion of The Otherworld contains mobs ranging from level 55-70. Most mobs are in groups of 4-6. Within these caverns are five named mobs (Bruatur, Imchath, Grokdal, Aogan, and Lord Bile). Each of these drops items which are Level 50-51, and 100% quality with a pretty high utility, ranging as high as 74. There is also an Instanced Dungeon called The Maze of Tribulation, with an additional named mob (Arch Mage Auros) which also drops quality loot. A solid group can handle the entire raid.

General Suggestions:

Navigating through the caverns of The Otherworld takes teamwork. Stay as close together as possible. Do not spread out. Spawn rate is very fast, and archers are sometimes problematic. Keep pets on passive and don’t chase down archers. Use range to take them out. With a little careful planning, you can avoid having to pull everything by hugging the walls, and sometimes cutting across between two sets of mobs. Fight in arches when possible, and take any necessary breaks there as well.

If you are trying to move as quickly as possible then consider not using pets, as they tend to not go the same direct route you do, and sometimes pick up aggro even in passive mode here simply by their proximity to mobs. Be extremely careful of any AOE you use. It often brings in way too many adds from mobs in close proximity. I cannot stress enough the importance of staying extremely tight as a group. If you are spread out at all, it will lengthen the time it takes to complete this, and could potentially create an unnecessary wipe out.

Lastly, carry a legendary weapon for each tank. You'll need them for Grokdal.

Walkthru:

1. Bruatur

Work your way through the caverns eastward until you come to a southern tunnel. Take the southern tunnel, and follow it just past the entrance to the Maze of Tribulation Instanced Dungeon, and into the room where Boss Mob Bruatur is located.

Bruatur (Level 65. loc. 34, 33)
Bruatur is fairly simple to take down. Pull him to the arch and do your battle there. He is by far the easiest, but will call for help. If you kill him fast enough, however, he may not have time for this. If he does BAF, he brings quite a few. We took him down with 2 Paladins, an Armsman, Theurgist and a cleric. We didn't even bother to clear the room first. The spawn rate is so fast, it isn’t worth the effort. Just pull him, and take him out quickly, and move on.

2. Maze of Tribulation: Arch Mage Aurus

After killing Bruatur, move back through the tunnel to the Instanced Dungeon door you passed which takes you into the Maze of Tribulation. You'll have to kill a few things on your way, or if you're fast, just ignore the aggro and run right in the ID. Be sure to rebuff and reset guard, protect once inside.

A word of caution: If you enter a room in the Maze that appears to be completely safe because you see no mobs, BEWARE. There are a few Instanced Dungeons that, for whatever reason, do not spawn the mobs immediately - but they are definitely there. This is one of those dungeons. Proceed with extreme caution through these "empty" rooms to an arch and wait for any mobs that might suddenly appear. If none show up, continue to proceed with caution. You will encounter them eventually - if not on your way in, then on your way back.

From the initial zone-in room, head north, then work your way westward through two rooms, then wind southwest to the third large room. From this room, turn South into the room where you'll find Arch Mage Auros.

Arch Mage Auros (Level 62)
This is really an easy encounter. You just have to know what to do. Begin by clearing the room of mobs, keeping a safe distance from Auros. After you have cleared the room, and before you engage Auros, note the Orb of Power high above his head. Three more like this will spawn once you attack Auros. Have a tank engage Auros while the rest of your party eliminates the Orbs. Take out all 3 Orbs of Power around the room. The fourth and final Orb above Arch Mage Auros is out of reach by melee and casters from the ground. Climb on the rock nearest Auros (I believe it is on the East side of the room) and use your ranged attack from here for the last orb. After all four Orbs have been eliminated, Auros will begin to take damage and you can kill him.

Auros is the only named mob in the Maze. Work your way back from where you came, and look out for any mobs that may not have spawned on your way there. Even though it is an Instanced Dungeon, it may not be as clear as you thought on your exit - just be ready for it. Exit the Maze, and return to the Cavern portion of The Otherworld. You will likely aggro mobs upon exit. Be ready for that as well. Rebuff, and reset guards and protects again.

3. Imchath

This is longest journey between named mobs in the caverns of the Otherworld. From the Maze you just exited, head northeast to on open room, then East until you can go south again. Take the south tunnel and keep going south/east until you come to the large open room where you find Imchath. It looks identical to the room where you encountered Brautur.

Imchath – (Level 60. Loc 41, 33)
Imchath is very similar to Bruatur with one exception – He is immuned to magic. For this reason, he takes longer to kill, and will more likely BAF. Just be ready for it. Assist, or AOE when you get the adds. If you AOE, be sure your nuker is in the center in the arch. Mobs tend to get dragged in from behind more than in front with AOE in the arches. Have caster tank, and save mana for adds. Like Bruatur, you will want to do your battle in the arch.

4. Grokdal

Head back through the tunnel and go north when possible. You will have to clear everything you did on your way to Imchath. Respawn rate is just high so expect it. Go north through the next arch and then east into the room where Grokdal is located.

Grokdal – (Level 65. Loc 39, 27)
As Imchath was immune to magic, so Grokdal is immuned to Melee - with one exception: Legendary weapons. Hopefully you brought some. If not, you'll be relying on your casters for all the damage. Like the others, he will BAF too. You'll want to fight him in the arch, staying closer to his side than the room behind you. His spawn rate seems to be slower than the others. I've been through a couple of times when he wasn't even up. To make matters a bit worse, his drop rate isn't the best. He only drops the quality loot on occasion. The rest of the time he drops ROG loot.

5. Aogan and Lord Bile

The last encounters are fairly close to Grokdal. Go West, then follow the tunnel north into the final encounter room. Aogan will be standing in the same location as the other mobs were in their rooms (with the exception of Auros in the Maze). After you kill Aogan, Lord Bile will spawn and he is worse than Aogan, so save some mana for him.

Aogan – (Level 65. Loc 35, 25)
Aogan is a bit more complicated than the previous mobs, but should be managable with a solid group. He has 3 Demonic Minions (Level 65) who will heal him, and each other. They also cast a DOT which is a pain. You have to take them out before killing Aogan. Like every other named mob in these caverns, watch your AOE or you will aggro way more than you want. Once they are killed, Aogan is easy enough to handle. Take him out. Work together here. You will get adds - and likely a lot. If you are going to wipe, it will be here, or on Lord Bile. Aogan calls for help - a lot of help. Kill his demonic minions, then kill him.

Lord Bile – (Level 70. Loc 35, 25)
Lord Bile is the highest of all the mobs. He spawns immediately after you kill Aogan - in the same place. Be ready for him. He packs a real punch, and you'll probably have a lot on your plate already. Do what you need to with the adds - assist, mez, whatever, but work together as a team here based on your group make-up. I've done it with 8, and also seen it fail miserably. Know your team, read your situation well, and you should take him out.

Once you have completed the run, I recommend porting, or suiciding out if need be. It simply isn't worth the run out unless you are trying to XP. You might consider handling all loot in this last arch. While we were doing this, Aogan re-spawned, which gave us a chance to kill him, and Lord Bile again.

Enjoy the Raid!
